Stonehill

This was a really exciting project for London Design Collaborative; our origins were in creating bespoke cabinetry but over the years we have started to do some refurbishments too and Stonehill became a mixture of the two.

For the fitted kitchen we added bespoke units but also refurbished some existing ones. The units are spray lacquered, and the carcasses are made of solid oak. The kitchen worktop is Corian but the rounded end is stained oak to match the interior of the cabinetry. The drinks bar is made of laminate for extra durability, Caesarstone worktop for an industrial look and finished off with a beautiful antique mirror.

For the front of the house, we also created the bespoke TV cabinet and hidden desk area in a large open plan living/kitchen dining area that could be separated with bespoke bifold doors. These were crafted using specialised hinges allowing the doors to be closed, fully opened or opened with 2 static panels. All created with traditional shaker style doors.

The back of the house has a more modern feel. The TV unit in the living room has sleek modern doors with a recessed finger bar, wood veneer back panel and inlaid lighting.

We worked on a number of rooms in this project.
The bathroom/dressing room was originally a shower room and dressing room with a hallway separating them and a boiler room at the end of the hall. By removing the separating walls and hallway and moving the boiler directly above to the loft, we created a large spacious area with freestanding bath, walk in shower and large dressing area. There was nobody overlooking the room so we could enlarge the windows making the view visible and the area lighter.

The client wanted a dressing room that felt like she was walking into a smart boutique showroom. We put her lovely bags on display and created an island to put clothes on when she was dressing. The island drawers open in both directions so that they can be opened from both sides of the dressing room. 
The bespoke door handles are made of Walnut dropped in resin. They match the gorgeous solid Walnut that we used to create the cabinetry carcass. The internal drawers are solid Walnut with dovetail joints and the exterior is spray lacquered and easy to clean.

Pendant lighting over the island and vanity creates a fresh, light feel in the morning and some shadows and atmosphere at night. 

The client really wanted to have fun downstairs but stay in-keeping with the house's Georgian roots. The sitting room, hallway and downstairs loo are a testament to this. 

The sitting/breakfast room was originally separate dining and boot rooms. We adjusted the space and refurbished it entirely, cleaning up the floor, designing and picking the lighting and hanging the artwork. Creating a lovely light and airy finish.

The front room is a little more formal though the client had fun with the wallpaper at the same time managing to stay in keeping with the traditional style of the house. We designed it all with her and then we did all the decoration, adding a sideboard, hanging the Matthew Williamson wallpaper and picking and hanging the paintings.

Now the client had a lot of fun with the downstairs loo, again Matthew Williamson wallpaper, Samuel Heath chrome fittings and a Chrome radiator. The tiles are hand painted concrete and then porcelain coated. Finished off with a dark coloured toilet and sink.

We also decorated the hallway and polished up the existing tiles.


Corney Reach

The Client wanted a whole lot more out of the master bedroom than the original layout allowed; en suite, more wardrobe space, hotel vibes. It was also important to take advantage of the best feature - a view over the River Thames!

The en suite was a conundrum as there was no walkway to access it. Our solution was to move the bed into the middle of the room and build a beautiful headboard. This doubled up as a room divider and some helpful bedtime storage.

The other stroke of genius here was that by moving the bed, the amazing views could be seen whilst snuggled up in bed  with a cup of tea.

The bespoke headboard is spray lacquered with upholstery inlay and because we were tight on space we also inlaid reading lights. On the sides, there are charging sockets, space for a glass of water and book. On the back, more book storage.

We also created his and hers wardrobe with mirrors to reflect the light and create space as you walk up the stairs.

For her, we used dark sumptuous colors as they are be in an area which is full of natural light. We also made a bespoke dressing table, including mirror cabinet with hidden storage behind it. 

His wardrobe are a lot lighter in color and sleeker style as they are in a smaller space with less light. 

We were invited back after completion of the bedroom to do the kids bathroom. They wanted to fit a bath and shower into a small room that didn't allow it. So we stole some space from a wardrobe in the adjacent bedroom. So we were able to fit in shower, bath and double sink.

This is a lovely 6 bedroom Georgian town house and we were invited to work on a number of its rooms. The clients really wanted their guests to have a hotel experience when staying with them so that was the criteria when designing and fitting the guest ensuite bath and shower rooms. 

The front of house is quite traditional and the back, with its extension, is more modern. The larger front guest ensuite had space for a walk in shower and bath. We installed these on a risen platform with a fall and drainage so that there was no need for a shower screen creating a "wet area".

To maintain a traditional feeling, we added bespoke panelling with hidden storage above the wall mounted toilet. This was all made in our workshop and then hand painted on site. 

The Shaker style bespoke vanity unit is composed of solid oak drawers with dovetail joints. 

The worktop is composite stone making it resistant and easy to clean. The taps and shower column are Samuel Heath, toilet Burlington and a lovely freestanding Victoria and Albert bath completes the traditional mood. The tiles are marble with hand crafted ceramic tiles on the back wall.

The 2nd guest bathroom is located at the back of the house and is more modern, It is also a smaller space so we wanted to keep it clean and bright as well as contemporary, without overshadowing original features like the high ceilings and cornice.

Everything was pared down with white spray lacquered, flat panelled doors. We added the oak recessed finger bar and bespoke oak shelf to help emulate the large trees outside.

There wasn't as much space in this ensuite so we created a large walk in shower instead of trying to fit a bath in too. The floor tiles are Carrara marble, worktop is Corian, tapware is Hansgrohe Axor and the shower screen is bespoke.

The drinks cabinet is for us one of the highlights of this property. The owners are book lovers and wine connoisseurs but didn’t want their favorite tipples on permanent display. Our solution was to hide them behind 2 sliding bookshelves. The wine fridges were kept visible as they add great lighting and atmosphere. Shaker style spray lacquered doors. Solid Oak interior, with visible oak recessed finger bar. The wine coolers are Miele.

The client wanted a monochrome cloakroom and this really shows the client's wonderfully eclectic taste.
It was a slightly awkward space with a recess where there used to be a window which was removed when the extension was added. We used this alcove to put the sink and vanity unit. A bespoke unit with a lino top, the client originally asked for leather but due to it being a sink worktop, it needed to be far more hardwearing. The sink is an old crystal bowl in which we drilled a hole for drainage. The clients mirror and marble and granite floor tiles finished it off.

The upstairs bathroom was really interesting. It was very dark with not much space, but the client wanted to fit a lot in, shower, bath, separate toilet but with a spacious, open feel. Our solution was to remove the wall, create a larger clear sliding door over the whole opening. The the whole room became a shower, a wet room. You can see the shower head mounted on the ceiling and a drain on the floor. 
The bespoke vanity unit at back, made from the same tiles as was used on the floor, Corian sink, Victoria and Albert freestanding bath and a bespoke mirror cabinet. 

The clients en suite bathrooms were built to the same specifications.

Dulwich Town House

We worked on two bedrooms plus some living areas in this lovely property, with bespoke cabinetry throughout.
Bedroom one has floor to ceiling wardrobes with a rectangle opening specified to the clients sizing for the television. Spray lacquered dusty blue doors, laminate carcass and blum drawer boxes. 
In the second bedroom, we reinforced the wall so that we could fit a bespoke floating shelf dressing table.

In the living areas, we created the bespoke floor to ceiling media units with hidden wiring. They have solid wood drawer boxes, laminate carcass and real wood veneer shelving stained to the clients specification. 

We created the central column in the larger unit and recessed the Television.

The biggest challenge in this project was designing and making the bespoke library that is also a jib door into the hidden office. The door was hand painted to match the existing architrave throughout the house. We also made the bespoke joinery inside the office. Simple flat panelled spray lacquered doors with an oak finger bar, stained to match the floor.

The living room was designed by another interior designer, we created the design and manufacture drawings for the cabinetry then manufactured and installed them. Spray lacquered visible panels, laminate carcass and atmospheric dimmable lighting.  

The kitchen was preexisting but the clients wanted to add an island which we had to match to the rest of the cabinetry. Spray lacquered doors on a laminate carcass with beautiful solid oak drawer boxes  and a Caesarstone worktop.
